Impact
This was a pilot five day camp project originally designed to engage 100 youth and 20 business/policy leaders to develop leadership skills and increase youth success in school. One hundred forty students attended from 14 different schools: public and alternative, throughout the Portland area, including Gresham and Scappoose. Even though there were about 40% “at-risk” kids attending, this camp was transformational, giving students a sense of their leadership capacity. Forty business/policy leaders, as well as community volunteers from Umpqua Bank, U.S. Bank and Home Depot participated. Centennial Learning Center brought not only their students, but all of their staff. The REAP Ambassador Program was an outgrowth of this camp.
