Good News Community Health Center

Project: Good News Clinic - two programs: Tutoring and Substance Abuse Prevention

Year: 2016 Grant Amount: $10,000 Location: Portland, OR
About:

Grant supports two programs: 1) one-on-one educational tutoring for at-risk students and 2) expand substance abuse counseling as a next big step towards integrating a behavioral health program with primary care: a unique and critical offering in Rockwood, a neighborhood of outer SE Portland (Gresham), OR.



Harney County Library Foundation

Project: Project Pre-COOL

Year: 2016 Grant Amount: $14,280 Location: Burns, OR
About:

Provides a small branch library within the Early Childhood Center to introduce and connect families with young children with the larger Harney County Library, the library system and its resources.  Also supports the “Raising a Reader” program for these families.



Jackson Street Youth Services

Project: Capacity Project - Supporting Skilled, Effective Staff and Volunteers

Year: 2016 Grant Amount: $8,250 Location: Corvallis, OR
About:

This grant provides tools and important training for staff and volunteers so that they are better able to serve traumatized runaway, homeless, and at-risk youth.  An online training system will save valuable staff time to improve service, compliance and efficiency.



Josephy Center for Arts & Culture

Project: After School Arts Program with Artistic Tools

Year: 2016 Grant Amount: $11,000 Location: Joseph, OR
About:

Allows children participating in a free after-school program to have art education added. In addition, this grant provides a printing press and art materials to enrich art and culture programs that serve the county’s population, ages 4-70.

Comprehensive and developmentally appropriate children and teen programming including a full schedule of daily activities designed to support emotional, physical and educational well-being for 1200 homeless kids during the 2016-2017 fiscal year.

Oregon Coast Children's Theatre & Youth Arts Center

Project: First Oregon Coast Invitational Youth Art Festival

About:

Provides free training workshops in paper sculpture to rural students in the 5th through 12th grade in anticipation of an expected 500 entries to a first Oregon Coast invitational youth art show occurring concurrently with the Toledo “Art Walk” in late August, 2016.

The core programmatic goals of this project are to:  inspire youth to play and appreciate music and support student musicians. Brings music education programs and outreach events to 40,000+ community members, including at-risk/under-served children.



Playwrite, Inc.

Project: Graduate Opportunities Program

About:

PlayWrite’s mission is to use the power of performance in art to transform the lives of youth at the edge. This grant is intended to continue involvement of program graduates and support their graduation from high school.



Sanctuary Art Center

Project: Visual Storytelling Internship Program

Year: 2016 Grant Amount: $12,100 Location: Seattle, WA
About:

The Visual Storytelling Internship program gives a select group of homeless youth the opportunity to create a number of in-depth projects over a significant period of time. These youth will be given the opportunity to travel to Ashland, OR to view world class storytelling at the Oregon Shakespeare Festival.  The trip is meant to inspire and inform the youth about the work being done outside their community and to encourage them to continue in the program.
